Review:
The recent film adaptations of the old Greek myths have not had much luck in Hollywood. Although the material itself lends itself to spectacular productions with extensive battle scenes and special effects wasteful, the big movie executives have managed to fail repeatedly to the point that the first Clash of the Titans (1981), which was precarious, remains the immediate reference to the common belief. But things are about to change ... thanks to a little movie called Immortals .
The "small" is a joke, of course. Immortals is a super production that is noted for every dollar fortune from an unusually competent cast for the genre to the dazzling combat scenes, which add to one of the best uses of 3D we've seen in recent times.
First, we have in the lead role of Henry Cavill Theseus, an actor whose name does not tell the crowds still much film, but the television, because of its role in the series The Tudors , which is inevitably destined to stardom because of his portrayal of Superman in the expected Man of Steel . The main villain, Hyperion, which declares war on the human species is played by Mickey Rourke ( Rumble Fish, The Wrestler, Iron Man 2 ), and the priestess Phaedra (which will obviously have an affair with Theseus) is personified by Indian actress Freida Pinto ( Slumdog Millionaire, Rise of the Planet of the Apes ).
