The Dominican Delvin Rodriguez won the super welterweight title International Boxing Association by winning a unanimous decision over New Jersey resident Polish Pawel Wolak in a rematch that was as good as the first fight held in July and ended with a tie. The fight was held at the Madison Square Garden as a preliminary to the fight between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. The Polish-American Pawel Wolak (02/01/29, 19 KOs) began pressuring Delvin Rodriguez (26-5 - 3, 14 KOs), who responded with more precision to the constant attacks by the rival and the second ended with an uppercut that shook to Wolak. He followed the trend in the following rounds, the fight with Wolak looking forward going in and pulling Delvin Rodriguez hits and getting the best combinations. From the fifth seemed inclined to fight Wolak, who got most out of the fight at short distance and landed good body shots and some more colorful the face, but Rodriguez also responded with his speed, although limited by distance and managed to cut Wolak in the fifth. In the eighth the Dominican again take the fight to the ground, although he had had a tough time in the seventh. The latter was clearly Delvin Rodriguez , who hammered with repeated hooks and uppercuts to the face of Wolak, who endured standing and had the guts to respond in a special closing a very good fight.
